HERNDON, VA, October 18, 2004 - The National Student Clearinghouse, the nation's most trusted source for post-secondary degree and enrollment verification, today announced the appointment of Nancy J. In her new position, Ms. Wiederspan will be responsible for strengthening the Clearinghouse's relationships within the education finance industry in order to proactively address the needs of its institutional and lending partners. Ms. Wiederspan has served on the Clearinghouse board of directors since 1998, most recently as its chairman. She will resign her chairmanship in order to assume her new position.

Among the initiatives she will lead are the promotion of the Clearinghouse's Total Enrollment Reporting Process (TERP), which centralizes enrollment reporting for guarantors and servicers, and EnrollmentSearch, a subscription-based educational research service used by state boards of education and other educational research entities.

"Since its inception, the Clearinghouse has played a key role in automating student loan reporting. I have been proud, through my service on its board, to contribute to the Clearinghouse's efforts," said Wiederspan, "I am excited by this new opportunity to further its objectives of leveraging new technologies and programs to better serve both the student lending and higher education communities."

"Nancy brings a wealth of experience in the student financial aid arena to her new role at the Clearinghouse," said Daniel R. Boehmer, president of the National Student Clearinghouse, "In addition, as a long-time member of our board and former chairman, she has an in-depth understanding of our organization and its mission. I am confident that the guarantors, lenders, servicers, and collegiate institutions that participate in the Clearinghouse will find her breadth of knowledge to be a valuable asset."

Ms. Wiederspan joins the Clearinghouse following a distinguished career in the student lending industry spanning more than 25 years. She joins the Clearinghouse from the National Student Loan Program (NSLP), a private nonprofit student loan agency, where as its long-time chairman and president she was responsible for the management and operation of one of the nation's largest guaranty agencies. In addition, Ms. Wiederspan has held positions as a senior vice president at NEBHELP (Nebraska Higher Education Loan Program) and the associate director of the Office of Scholarship and Financial Aid at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
